1925 September 18, born in Berlin as the daughter of Hermann Zimmer, an attorney at law, and his wife Anna Zimmer, née Johannsen.
1932 Accidental death of K. M.'s father.
1935-1943: High school in Berlin-Dahlem (Gertraudenschule) and Berlin-Wilmersdorf (Cecilienschule).
1943-1948: 9 Semesters of academic studies (interrupted by work in a hospital and other places during the last phase of World War II). Studies in Classics, German Philology, History, Art History, and Philosophy at Friedrich Wilhelms Universität Berlin (SS 43 WS 43/44), Universität Freiburg i. Brsg. (SS 44), Universität Mainz (SS 46) und Humboldt Universität in Berlin (WS 46/47-SS 48).
1948 Marriage to Momme Mommsen, Dr. phil., a former musician (conductor), and scholar of Classics and German Literature.
1949-1961: Research positions, together with Momme Mommsen, as Goethe scholars at the Deutsche Akademie der Wissenschaften zu Berlin [East] - until the erection of the Berlin Wall on August 13, 1961.
